A few Trips and some really great people

Well with school out Kyle and his caddy got to hit the road for some amazing events.  First off was the Safeway Invitational put on by the awesome ladies and gentlemen of SportsOne Inc.  Truly an event that is second to none.  What a great time Kyle had, he played with Charlie Rymer from the golf channel and Brian Henninger (PGA Tour).  It was a wonderful 4 days in Monterey and Kyle and I are very thankful to Safeway for having us and SportsOne for making it happen.   Kyle made sure to compare outfits with Herm Edwards, of course Kyle won.  Coach Edwards told Kyle you are a clean dresser!!! Kyle enjoyed every minute.  We got to see our old pro-am partner Dave Annable and his wife Odette.  We played with him at he KNC.  A few of Kyle's new friends Jay Bilas, Trent Dilfer, Jerome Kersey, and he even snuck in an extra 9 holes with Brandi Chastain.  All in all it was awesome.

Over fathers day weekend, Kyle and I headed to Arkansas to play in John Daly's event to help raise money for the Boys and Girls club.   Kyle got to play with his partner in Loudmouth crime Mr. Alan, David, and Christina Lecuyer (Big Break).  We spent everyday on the golf course and met some of the best people.  Kyle really enjoyed seeing golfers playing in bare feet, Mr. JD being one of them.  Maybe next year the Loudmouth team will go barefoot!!!  Kyle talked football with Coach Bobby Petrino who really tried to convert Kyle to a Razorback fan.  Why not he said, the Buckeyes will be in trouble for awhile:)  We cannot thank Alan, Skai, and JD enough.  We only hope to have them out to our event this year and look forward to heading to Arkansas next year....This time to win!!!!

Before we left for Arkansas Kyle pick out a special pet.  He now has a Hamster which he named Marvin!  Now if you know his mom Regina you know any type of "rodent" is not welcome.  But little Marvin seems to be working his way into Mommy's heart.  I have even caught her talking to Marvin on occasion.   We did have a little scare the other day, Kyle decided to play with Marvin in the bathroom so he would not escape.  Well Marvin thought it would be a good idea to crawl into the little hole under the sink.  Kyle was devastated and after about 8 hrs and many attempts to lure him out.  He just walked out and acted like nothing happen.  Needless to say Marvin will be staying in his cage for awhile.

We hope you all have had a wonderful start to your summer!

Cheers...

End of school countdown....

We are on the last stretch of school and Kyle is counting down the days. His last day of school is just two days before his 9th birthday and he thinks these days are going by way too slow! Finishing out his 3rd grade year and looking forward to a fun filled summer, we have a few golf outings planned and he is ready for "hot pool days". I would have to say summer is his favorite time of the year, I sometimes think he is part fish...he spends more time swimming under water than he does above water....

Of course we are not fortunate enough to have a pool in our back yard but we do have some wonderful friends that live nearby so we do get to take advantage of their pool often. Kyle loves the beach too so we get there as much as possible. We are only about a 45 minute drive away so it is nice for a day trip....we always have to take the boogie board because Kyle has to "ride the waves". The only thing he doesn't like is the sand that gets in his sandwich no matter how careful he is getting it out of the cooler. That is always a huge complaint that makes me laugh. It never fails, he will go rinse of ten times in the water and will still stick his hand in the sand when he sits down to eat. He finally gives up and just eats his lunch...sand and all!

Kyle and Dad have been enjoying the frog infestation that have been taking over our neighborhood for some reason. Because we have had such a wet winter, we have the cutest little tree frogs EVERYWHERE down our street. So this past weekend Jeff and Kyle took a bucket and captured about 25 of them and brought them home. Why they brought them to our house I have no clue, not sure why we would need that many frogs in our yard!! Kyle tried to put them in our outdoor potted plants with a little cup of water and explained he was creating a comfy home for them. I was secretly praying the wouldn't get too comfy!! Cute little frogs but I didn't feel the need to have 25-30 tree frogs as pets! Thankfully they all found new homes elsewhere because they are no longer in our yard....although I did over hear the neighbor complaining about all the frogs in his back yard..ooops!

This was one of the little guys...

Kyle has also been enjoying his soccer season, he has two more games left. He plays outside mid and forward which ironically is the same positions his sister Kaley plays also. They are so much alike it is almost scary! The both love to watch soccer on TV too. Just yesterday we were watching the women's USA vs Japan game and Kyle said "You know girls are not half as dramatic as boys are when they play soccer!" Great observation Kyle and I so have to agree!!! But then in the next breath he asked if in his next game he headed a ball into the goal, could he take his shirt off to celebrate.....oh geez!! Talk about dramatic! haha!

Some of the latest soccer pics..

Kyle and Jeff leave for Monterey, CA on June 4th for the Safeway Invitational. This will be the second year attending this event and Kyle is really looking forward to it. Make sure to follow him on twitter as he keeps everyone updated about his trips..yes Kyle is on twitter! It is the funniest thing ever, some of his posts crack me up. He is really not sure how it all works just yet (we aren't either to be honest) but he has funny posting tweets and seeing how is "following" him. Click here to follow Kyle on Twitter

The countdown is also on for the 2nd Annual TKE Golf Tournament!!! 4 more months to go.....Mark the calendar for September 12, 2011. Details are on the website at www.kylelograsso.org. Click on the Golf Tournament Tab.

Thanks for taking the time to catch up on the latest happenings!

Until next time......

From the Pro Am..to school..to MRI

Lots going on here as usual. We just came home from an amazing trip to Palm Springs attending the 2011 Kraft Nabisco LPGA Championship. Kyle was really excited to see some of his LPGA buddies and met a few more throughout the week. First day of the pro am he played with Stacy Prammanasudh. She was so much fun and she wore her LoudMouth too :)
They played really well but more importantly they had a blast! After the round Kyle enjoyed a nice swim in the pool...loved the Palm Springs weather.

The second day Pro Am Kyle played with Nicole Castrale. They shot a 55 and were the winners!!! Kyle sank 3 eagle putts and 3 birdie putts..he said it was the best day ever. Nicole was so great and a great time was had by all.
Kyle was so proud of his trophy!

After such a fun filled week, Kyle went back to school on Monday. He enjoyed his spring break and did not want to go back to school so soon.

The end of this week brings the dreaded reminder of Kyle's cancer. He is going in on Saturday for his 6 month brain MRI. I just hate this time of year...I know hate is a strong word but that's how strongly I despise these tests. I know that everything will be fine, it always is but there is that lingering "what if" scenario that you can't avoid letting your mind go to. These tests bring back those memories that I try so hard to move past and not forget but just push aside. No one ever wants to think about what may harm their child...or God forbid be strong enough to take their lives. Yes, that's a very raw statement but it is a cancer survivor's reality...you just never know. We just leave it up to the good Lord above and whatever his plan is for us, we will accept it and embrace it. I have to praise my girls for putting up with crazy mom and dad during this time. The week before Kyle's 6 month check ups, Mom and Dad are both a bit frazzled, crabby and on edge. I am sure the girls worry also in their own way...especially when Kyle ask questions like "Are the test going to show if I have cancer again or not?". It just doesn't seem fair that a 8 year old little boy should ask such questions.

Please say a little prayer for Kyle this week and for our family. Like I said, the tests always come back normal so I am sure it will be the same this time.

xoxo,
Mom

A post from Kyle's oldest sister, Kristen......

Well, it's Sunday evening as the Lograsso girls and boys split up until Wednesday! Dad and Kyle left a couple of hours ago to go to the LPGA Kraft Nabisco Tournament for the 3rd year in a row. Kyle is really excited to wear all of his new Loudmouth Golf clothes, he's a bit of a diva when it comes to fashion ;) While they are in Palm Springs for the tournament, the Lograsso girls are staying at home on spring break vacation! WOOOH HOOO!

Now, my mom always goes on here and tells you all how sweet little Kyle is and how he is just the cutest little boy ever, well now you can get the inside scoop from someone who deals with the real Kyle all the time! Me! Many people think of him as mature for his age, and on the golf course, he is. But let me tell you, as soon as he gets home he acts like a typical 8 year old kid who pulls your hair, eats the last bowl of cereal (on purpose), changes the channel when he knows you're watching something, and scares you when you walk out of the bathroom. But, without his one of a kind personality, my days would definitely be more boring!

Kyle is growing up fast though! About two weeks ago, he got his first phase of braces! You heard it, my little baby brother is Mr. Traintracks :) He didn't like them at first, but sometimes he'll get out of the shower and just make faces in the mirror because he thinks they look cool. We think he looks older, but I wish he would just stay little forever!

Kyle also started his soccer season again this weekend. He had a scrimmage and my sister Kaley was the goalie because the other team was short on players. Kyle scored two times on Kaley and then Kaley knocked him down and put her knee in his stomach when he was trying to score. She said she didn't do it on purpose but I think she just didn't want Kyle to score on her again. She has played golf since she was 4 but she is no goalie!!

Kaley is in yellow, Kyle has the yellow shoes :)
Kyle jumping over the asst. coach!
Look at that face!

Well that is about all I have to say, just thought I would write on my little brother's blog today. Even though he drives me nuts, I wouldn't change a thing!

Busy little Bee.....

Well it has been a very busy time around the Lograsso home. Kyle has had a crazy couple of months with tournaments, photo shoots and keeping up with school work. While attending the Dream Day Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ Kyle had so much fun seeing all the kids and getting to hit golf balls off of elevated tees! He said he signed alot of autographs too :)
His favorite trick :)
What an awesome day!
You can hardly see our little guy in there...

Kyle had a great time and we are thankful for The Thunderbirds Organization and Waste Management for inviting Kyle.

Not long after returning from that event Kyle was invited to a the NBA's Legend Lunch luncheon at the Staples Center...Kyle loved that! He saw Shaq walk by and he said.."umm he is really tall!" Ha! I am not sure that Kyle knew anyone there but they were definitely among the greats!! Magic Johnson, Bill Walton, James Worthy and Jerry West were among the attendees. Thank you Mitchell Modell for that invite!

Kyle just finished up two very fun photo shoots. Fore!! Axel and Hudson, a golf inspired clothing line for boys has become a great supporter of the TKE foundation. There will be details on the website soon the relationship between Fore!! and TKE...exciting stuff!! Kyle had a blast but it was freezing that day...but he was a great sport and had fun.

Just last week we had another family photo shoot with LoudMouth Golf. What a blast that was....we all dressed in LMG and I must say we rocked it! :) It was an outside shoot at a local park and i must say we got alot of attention that day....one older gentlemen ask us if we were from That 70's Show! LMG has been making custom pants for Kyle for the last year or so. We are so blessed to have such great friends at LMG and they have always been a huge support for the TKE foundation. Very soon you will be able to order LMG through the Kyle's website and a portion of the proceeds will go back to the foundation. Everyone needs a pair of LMG pants..I must say, the are very comfy!

More pics to come....

This weekend Kyle will be attending the USF College Golf Tournament here at Pauma Valley. Last year he had a great time playing with the college students and he is looking forward to this year as well.

This past weekend our family went to support our daughter Kaley at her first track meet. Kyle was very excited for her and on the way home he told her that he was proud of her because she came in first in one of her events. I am so proud that he is so supportive of his sisters. They are also supportive of him and I love it when they let each other know it. He also says that when he wins his first major he will buy them a house and a car......hey what about Mom and Dad??? I love his heart and the way he thinks of others.....he will always be my little snuggle bug!! I'm glad he doesn't read these blogs often, he may be a bit embarrassed.....oh well, that's what us mommies do!

Kyle's Post about his day....

Kyle doesn't like to type on the computer so I am writing his account of the day word for word......

Meeting Phil was really fun. I played two holes with him and hit the ball really good. I was not even nervous. Phil was really nice to me. He plays good too. I got to watch the press conference and then go up with Phil on stage. I don't want to go back to school tomorrow. I had seven interviews today and I like to do interviews. I hope to see him again and hope he comes golf with me at Pauma Valley. I think I am really lucky!

Love Kyle........
